Prisoner

Set me free, sail away
across the seas,
but I don't know if that'd help me.
Give me your hand, your heart, your soul.
I promise you, either way I'll never let go.
Don't believe anyting that you hear
and only half of what I say.

I'm wrapped around your finger
and you don't want me.
But it can't be helped.
I know what I need to do,
I've got to leave this place
for rehabilitation.
But inside, I know,
as long as I can remember
your eyes,
as long as I can remember,
I'll be your prisoner.

I look up as I fall down,
I'm on the ground,
begging you to stay.
A little kiss, a simple touch,
it would never be too much but
it would never be enough.
I'm addicted to everything
that I feel
when you're around me.
Even if that's excruciating pain,
I'm game.

I'm wrapped around your finger
and you don't want me.
But it can't be helped.
I know what I need to do,
I've gotta leave this place
for rehabilitation.
But inside, I know
as long as I can remember
your eyes,
as long as I can remember,
I'll be your prisoner.

Can you retrieve me?
Can you release these shackles on my wrists?
Can you promise me that
I never stood a chance
even though I know the answer....
